Whether you have just downloaded a fresh raw data file from your total station or received a design CSV from an engineer, the first step before running any calculations is always a visual sanity check.
Did the instrument swap the Eastings and Northings? Is there a rogue elevation throwing a massive spike into your 3D surface? Normally, finding out requires importing the data into Civil 3D, 12D Model, or Trimble Business Center—a process that takes time and processing power.
The 3D Point Viewer at sitemath.net changes that. It is a lightweight, browser-based spatial visualizer that allows you to paste your bulk coordinate data and instantly generate an interactive 3D scatter plot.
Why You Need a Pre-Calculation Sanity Check
Processing bad data leads to bad set-outs, and fixing a busted concrete pour is a lot more expensive than catching a typo in a CSV. Our visualizer acts as your first line of defense for QA/QC by instantly highlighting common data errors:
- The X/Y Swap: It is the oldest mistake in the book. If your Eastings and Northings are reversed, your site will visually rotate 90 degrees or mirror itself. You will spot it in the viewer immediately.
- Busted Elevations (Z-Spikes): A rod height entered incorrectly in the field can ruin a 3D surface. By rotating the interactive canvas to a side-profile view, any rogue elevations will stick out like a sore thumb.
- Missing Control Points: Before you head out to the field, paste your control file into the viewer to ensure all your required stations are actually in the dataset and spatially where you expect them to be.
Interactive 3D Canvas
We built this tool using a high-performance 3D rendering engine so you can interact with your data just like you would in a native CAD environment.
- Orbit and Rotate: Left-click and drag to spin your site in true 3D space, allowing you to view your points from any angle or elevation.
- Pan and Zoom: Right-click to pan across large infrastructure sites, and use your mouse wheel to zoom in on tight clusters of holding-down bolts or complex structural nodes.
- True Scale Aspect Ratio: Unlike basic graphing tools that stretch your data to fit the screen, our engine locks the X, Y, and Z axes to a strict 1:1:1 ratio. A 10-meter shift in elevation looks exactly proportional to a 10-meter shift in Easting, ensuring your site geometry is never visually distorted.
- Hover Data Inquiry: Hover your cursor over any point on the screen to instantly pull up its ID, X, Y, Z coordinates, and feature code.
Frictionless Data Entry
You don’t need to format columns, define headers, or upload files. Simply copy your raw text data straight from Excel, Notepad, or your datalogger and paste it into the tool.
The engine instantly parses standard survey formatting: Point ID, Easting (X), Northing (Y), Elevation (Z), and Code. If you are only working in 2D, simply leave the elevations out—the visualizer will automatically plot your site on a flat planar level.
Save and Export Your Datasets
Once you have visually confirmed your spatial data is clean and ready for processing, you can click Save Dataset to log it into the tool’s batch memory. When you are done reviewing multiple files, click Export All to download a cleanly formatted, horizontal CSV that is ready to be fed into our alignment, leveling, or coordinate geometry calculators.
Stop flying blind with text files. Paste your coordinates into the viewer and see your site instantly.
